about

we got together at the beginning of this year (2023) to blast out this Cartledge-penned banger live and loud at The Green Room in Leeds with engineer Tim Malkin at the helm, recorded in three takes we overdubbed backing vocals and some organ and went home... later that afternoon Tim emailed us his rough monitor mix, which we all fell in love with for how exciting it sounds, and after hearing a few more versions of the mix we always came back to the first one, so it must have something, right?

lyrics

Bloated poetry misquoted crooks
The human race on tenterhooks
We learned manners from the banished books
That’s where the problem lies

Fake Halloween for the miscreants
Blood on the shirts but they’re innocent
The explanation is magnificent
It was somebody else’s fault

Maximilien, Jupiter
Saint Sebastian, Lucifer
We’ve had a ball
We’ve seen it all before

Kim and Nero, Margaret
You haven’t heard the half of it
The bigger picture is a composite for sure

Evolution in the present tense
Danny Zuko is the president
Somebody tampered with the evidence
On official time

Rat fat cat shooting from the lips
You ask for help you are a terrorist
Don’t count your chickens if you’re on the list

Hans Gruber, Eye of Sauron
Leading the polls 2 to 1
We haven’t seen the last of ‘em you know

Freddy Krueger, Jesse James
Rigged elections, playground games
Your missing picture in a window frame
Is anybody there?

Another number
Nil by name
Every widow is the same
We couldn’t pay to celebrate the shame
And on the 8th day they created blame
Your children’s future in the bulletsmoke
Fabled promise labelled woke
Something aligning in your horoscope
The burning kingdom in the periscope

Zuckerberg, Billy Gates
Richer than 50 states
There’s nothing on your dinner plate
Tonight

Rockefella, Corleone
Clambering across the bones
The fishes feeding off of payday loans
Is there a better way to die?
